Thank you, Saltonstall!

I am proud to have been selected as an alternate for the Saltonstall Artist/Writer Parent/Caregiver Residency in May 2025. I was thrilled to apply to the gorgeous Ithaca campus, and honored to have been selected as the single playwriting alternate for the May residency.

The residency:

In 2019, we piloted a new program: a free one-week residency specifically for artist/writer parents with at least one dependent child under the age of 18 at home. This new residency was a huge success, and is now in its fifth year. We are not able to accommodate children, spouses, partners, or collaborators. This residency is designed for the artist/writer parent alone.

NEW in 2025: our special one-week residency for artist/writer parent residency will now also include artists and writers who are full-time caregivers regardless of the age of their dependents.

Our categories include:

    Poetry
    Playwriting & Screenwriting (NEW in 2025!)
    Photography (film or digital) & Filmmaking
    Painting | Sculpture | Visual Arts

*Note: We are NOT accepting applications for Fiction/Creative Nonfiction for the 2025 season. Our prose category for this round is playwriting and screenwriting only, and then we’ll be rotating the category moving forward.

Each residency session includes the same combination of five artists and writers: one poet, one playwright or screenwriter, one photographer or filmmaker, and two visual artists. These residencies are designed for individual artists and writers; we cannot accommodate collaborations or partners working together.

All residencies (incl. the residencies for artist/writer parents & caregivers, and the two-, three-, week, and four-week sessions) function exactly the same way. Each group of five arrives and leaves together, and the application process for all residencies is also exactly the same.
